Quality Wood Products of Kansas City, MO has eliminated warehouse overtime, cleaned up their loading area and increased driver efficiency with the implementation of the Demountable Truck Body System by Demountable Concepts. Prior to using the system, QWP would have to wait for their drivers to return to the warehouse to begin loading for the next trip. According to General Manager, Ted Clarensau, “Our dock was a confusing mess. We were not able to load until a truck returned. If two or more showed up at the same time, the chaos increased. We were always faced with loading the trucks early in the morning or late at night.” It was a constant challenge to get the drivers on the road early.

Faced with growing business and spiraling labor costs, Quality Wood decided to implement the Demountable Truck Body System. With multiple, interchangeable bodies for each truck, the company can now load cabinets during normal business hours. One body is standing at the warehouse being loaded while the other is on the truck making deliveries. When the driver returns, he swaps bodies and is ready to get back on the road. If he returns at mid-day, he can make a second trip without any wait time. If the driver returns after hours, there is no panic. His next trip is already loaded for him to get an early start the next day.

Clarensau confirms, “We have completed our implementation of the Demountable Body System and are now able to ship our entire production with fewer people and less money invested in equipment." The company now operates four straight trucks with eight bodies.
