Superseal Manufacturing of South Plainfield, NJ has been using a proven delivery system on their straight trucks for a number of years. While most window and door manufacturers deliver a majority of their product on straight trucks, Superseal’s trucks are much more efficient than their competitors.
Superseal has converted their fleet of straight trucks into the demountable truck body system. This system allows the use of multiple bodies on one truck chassis. While the truck is making deliveries during the day, there is a second body standing at the warehouse. Instead of pulling orders, staging them on the warehouse floor and waiting for the driver to return, the product is loaded directly into the free-standing body. Warehouse personnel handle the product once on straight time. When the driver returns, his deliveries for tomorrow are already loaded. He simply swaps bodies and is ready to go in the morning.
Users of the demountable body system are able to keep their costs under control because warehouse personnel do not have to wait for the driver to return to begin loading. Drivers are more productive because their time is spent delivering product and profits for the company. Damages are also greatly reduced because product is loaded directly into a body; not staged on the warehouse floor. As Ron Vespa, Vice-President of Superseal, explains, “ Our loaders are no longer required to work overtime to load our trucks. The demountable system is trouble-free, and because the bodies are preloaded, our drivers are always on the road early.”
Demountable Concepts, Inc., of Glassboro, NJ manufactures the demountable body system and has helped numerous window and door manufacturers reduce delivery costs and improve service to their customers. A free video is available as well as demonstration units in many areas.
